Despite Musk’s sweeping influence in identifying and eliminating wasteful government spending, Trump remains publicly supportive of his efforts, emphasizing their importance in tackling the nation’s budget deficits. Trump acknowledged that he and Musk had discussed these media speculations, revealing that Musk directly called him to point out attempts to drive a wedge between them.
