Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have once again shown remarkable resilience, repelling a Boko Haram ambush and neutralising 13 insurgents during a failed attack in Borno State.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, along the Gubio-Damasak road, while soldiers were escorting humanitarian trucks to Kareto. The terrorists attempted to halt the convoy by detonating two command Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), followed by heavy gunfire.
The troops swiftly regrouped, took tactical positions, and unleashed superior firepower that overpowered the attackers. Thirteen insurgents were eliminated instantly, while others fled in disarray.
The soldiers pursued the fleeing fighters, combing the area and recovering significant weapons, including eight AK-47 rifles, ten AK-47 magazines, and a large cache of 7.62mm ammunition. Other items seized included a camel bag and several rolls of detonating cord wires used in making explosives.

During the confrontation, a soldier sustained a minor injury but is in stable condition. Four MRAP tyres were damaged, and two trucks caught fire in the exchange. Despite the attack, troops ensured the safe delivery of relief materials to Damasak and have continued aggressive patrols in the area to deny terrorists freedom of movement.
Meanwhile, in Plateau State, troops of 3 Division/Joint Task Force Operation Enduring Peace (JTF OPEP) foiled a planned militia attack following a distress call from Fann District in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area.
According to a statement by Media Information Officer, Major Samson Zhakor, the troops mounted an ambush at Kaskra in Ropp District and intercepted an armed militia member. The suspect was found with an AK-47 rifle, one magazine, and 11 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the arrested individual was mobilised from a nearby community to attack villages under Nding in Barkin Ladi LGA. He is currently in custody and undergoing interrogation to provide intelligence for follow-up operations.
