Real Madrid have officially confirmed the signing of England right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold from Liverpool on a six-year contract, marking the end of an illustrious era at Anfield and the beginning of a new chapter at the Santiago Bernabéu.
The 26-year-old defender will join the Spanish giants from June 1, 2025, and is contracted through June 30, 2031. The agreement, finalized between both clubs, was announced on Friday via Real Madrid’s official website.
“Real Madrid C.F. and Liverpool FC have reached an agreement for Trent Alexander-Arnold, who will be linked to our club for the next six seasons,” the statement read.
Alexander-Arnold departs Liverpool as one of the most decorated players in the club’s modern history. Since rising through the ranks of the club’s youth system, he has claimed nine major trophies, including the UEFA Champions League, FIFA Club World Cup, UEFA Super Cup, two Premier League titles, the FA Cup, two EFL Cups, and the FA Community Shield.
Internationally, the England star has represented the Three Lions since 2018, featuring in the FIFA World Cups of 2018 and 2022, as well as the UEFA Euro 2024 tournament.
Renowned for redefining the role of a modern full-back, Alexander-Arnold has received numerous accolades: he was named in the FIFA FIFPro World 11 in 2020, twice made the UEFA Champions League Team of the Season, and was three times selected in the Premier League Team of the Season. He also earned the Premier League Young Player of the Season award in 2019/20.
His first appearance for Real Madrid is expected to come during the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, which will take place in the United States starting June 14.
