Tinubu Nominates Odion, Rabiu as FCCPC Executive Commissioners

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has put forward the names of Louis Odion and Ummusalma Isiyaku Rabiu for appointment as Executive Commissioners of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), subject to the Senate’s approval.

The nomination was disclosed on Wednesday by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, through an official statement posted on X.

In the announcement, it was revealed that Odion has been nominated for the position of Executive Commissioner, Operations, while Rabiu is being considered for the role of Executive Commissioner, Corporate Services. Their appointments will proceed if the Senate grants confirmation, as outlined in the FCCPC Act, 2018.

Odion, a native of Edo State, is an accomplished journalist and former Senior Technical Assistant to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Media. His professional journey also includes serving as Edo State’s Commissioner for Information. He holds two Master’s degrees—one in Modern War Studies from the University of Buckingham in the United Kingdom, and another in International Law and Diplomacy from the University of Lagos.

Rabiu, 35, hails from Kano State and is the founder of the Usir Foundation, a non-profit organisation dedicated to uplifting disadvantaged individuals and communities through education, skills training, and humanitarian work. She earned her degree in Business Administration and is recognised as a dedicated grassroots politician, actively involved in her community. Her advocacy focuses on inclusive governance and increasing the political participation of women and young people.
