President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Dr. Saviour Enyiekere as Chairman of the National Assembly Service Commission (NASC) for a renewable five-year term. Prior to this appointment, Dr. Enyiekere, an environmental specialist, served as the deputy chief of staff to Senate President Bayo Onanuga, as confirmed by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.

In addition to naming Dr. Enyiekere as chairman, President Tinubu has also approved the appointment of two commission members from each of Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones. The new appointees include Mr. Suleiman Hunkuyi and Hon. Yusuf Tabuka for the North West; Aminu Malle and Alhaji Lawan Mahmud for the North East; Mark Tersoo and Salihu Balogun for the North Central; Mr. Taiwo Oluga and Afeez Ipeza-Balogun for the South West; Mr. Nnanna Kalu and Festus Odii for the South East; and Patrick Giwa together with Mrs. Mary Ekpenyong for the South South.

President Tinubu emphasized that, like the chairman, these members will also hold office for a renewable term of five years. The appointments mark a significant step toward enhancing the effectiveness of NASC and ensuring that diverse regional perspectives are well represented in the oversight of legislative services.
