President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Deputy Controller-General (DCG) Olumode Samuel Adeyemi as the new substantive Controller-General of the Federal Fire Service (FFS), with effect from August 14, 2025.
This announcement was made in a statement issued by the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB), signed by its Secretary, Abdulmalik Jibrin. The appointment comes in view of the imminent retirement of the incumbent Controller-General, Engr. Abdulganiyu Jaji Olola, who is set to bow out of service on August 11, 2025, having reached the mandatory retirement age of sixty.
DCG Olumode Samuel Adeyemi is a seasoned fire officer with extensive experience in public fire safety management. He began his career with the FCT Fire Service before transferring to the Federal Fire Service, where he rose through the ranks to become Deputy Controller-General in charge of the Human Resource Directorate at the Service Headquarters.
Throughout his distinguished career, Adeyemi has undergone all mandatory in-service and command trainings, in addition to participating in various courses both locally and internationally. His exposure and training are expected to bring a strategic advantage to the leadership of the Federal Fire Service.
He is also affiliated with several professional bodies, including the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN), Institute of Corporate Administration of Nigeria, Institute of Public Administration of Nigeria, and the Chartered Institute of Treasury Management of Nigeria, among others.
The CDCFIB expressed gratitude to the outgoing Controller-General, Engr. Abdulganiyu Jaji Olola, for his remarkable service and dedication to the development of the Fire Service. During his tenure, Olola was known for spearheading several initiatives that significantly enhanced the operational capacity and national relevance of the Federal Fire Service.
