Sterling Bank, a top Nigerian commercial bank and Africa’s most dynamic financial institution, has unveiled AlwaysOn, a new feature on its OneBank platform offering eligible customers up to ₦1 million monthly, even with low account balances.
Launched on Workers’ Day 2025, this initiative aims to dismantle financial barriers and empower Nigerians to act decisively in challenging times. AlwaysOn, an exclusive, invitation-only feature for active OneBank users, provides advances for seamless bill payments and transactions, bypassing traditional credit hurdles.
“This isn’t just about money—it’s about freedom and dignity, giving our customers the trust and tools to act boldly,” said CEO Abubakar Suleiman. He described AlwaysOn not as a product but as a shift toward supporting customer momentum, rewarding loyal clients with the bank’s backing for their ambitions.
AlwaysOn builds on Sterling’s efforts to create a fairer financial system, following its April Zero Transfer Fees initiative, which saved Nigerians an estimated ₦13 billion, and the Free Bus Ride program, easing commuters’ burdens during economic hardship. Enabled by SeaBaas, Nigeria’s first homegrown core banking platform, these moves underscore Sterling’s customer-centric innovation.
“We’re not spectators to Nigerians’ hustle,” said Obinna Ukachukwu, the bank’s growth executive for retail and consumer banking. “We’ve eliminated fees that held them back, and now we’re giving them the financial freedom to seize opportunities.”
Sterling’s initiatives have earned widespread public support and national acclaim, with prominent figures praising its redefinition of financial services and urging other institutions to follow.
Nigerians are encouraged to join the waitlist for AlwaysOn, launching later this month, for a chance at up to ₦1 million in relief advances. Renowned for its bold customer advocacy, Sterling continues to transform lives through innovative solutions like fee-free transfers and inclusive capital access.
