US hip-hop mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs has been moved to a low-security prison in New Jersey to serve his four-year, two-month jail term for crimes linked to prostitution, according to a federal prison register released on Friday.
The 55-year-old music producer and entrepreneur is being held at Fort Dix Federal Correctional Institution, located about 130 kilometers (80 miles) south of New York City. The facility is known not only for housing nonviolent offenders but also for its extensive drug treatment and rehabilitation programs.
Combs’s legal team had earlier petitioned for his transfer to Fort Dix, where he is expected to remain until his scheduled release date of May 8, 2028, as confirmed by the Federal Bureau of Prisons.
The Bad Boy Records founder was arrested in September 2024 and later found guilty in July 2025 on two counts of transporting individuals across state lines for prostitution. However, he was acquitted of the more severe charges of sex trafficking and racketeering.

During his sentencing, Combs appeared emotional as he addressed the court, expressing remorse for his conduct. “I am truly sorry,” he said tearfully, apologizing to both his family and his victims. He described his actions as “disgusting, shameful and sick.”
The sentence handed down by the judge took into account the time Combs had already spent in custody at a Brooklyn detention facility, which had been noted for its harsh conditions. Despite his conviction, Combs has filed an appeal challenging both the verdict and the duration of his sentence.
The once-celebrated rapper and producer, known for his contributions to the global hip-hop scene and collaborations with artists such as Notorious B.I.G. and Mary J. Blige, now faces a different reality—serving time in federal prison while seeking to overturn his conviction.
