Big Brother Naija star Phyna has leveled serious allegations against Dangote Group, claiming negligence and insensitivity in the handling of her sister Ruth Otabor’s death and subsequent burial arrangements.

The reality television personality took to Instagram in a series of emotional posts, where she not only mourned her sister’s passing but also raised disturbing questions about the circumstances surrounding the tragedy and the corporate giant’s response to it.

In what appears to be one of her most explosive allegations, Phyna suggested that her sister’s death was not merely tragic but “calculated and planned,” though she did not provide specific details about what led her to this conclusion. The gravity of such an accusation against one of Africa’s largest conglomerates has sparked widespread attention on social media.

At the heart of Phyna’s grievances is a financial dispute concerning medical and burial costs. According to the entertainer, while Dangote Group publicly announced it would cover these expenses, the reality fell far short of that promise.

Phyna claims the company only settled bills at Lagoon Hospital in Lagos, leaving her family to shoulder substantial additional costs incurred from Auchi to Irrua. “The bills from Auchi down to Irrua were covered by the family; no refund has been made,” she stated, highlighting what she perceives as a gap between public promises and private actions.

The situation allegedly deteriorated further on September 13th, the day of Ruth’s burial. Phyna claims that family members’ attempts to contact Dangote Group representatives proved unsuccessful, creating additional stress during an already difficult time.

“On Sept 13th, the day of burial, Dangote groups did not pick up all calls made to them from us, as we were told the bills were not paid, but they claim it was,” she wrote, suggesting a troubling disconnect between what the company claimed publicly and what the family experienced on the ground.

Perhaps the most peculiar aspect of Phyna’s allegations involves a letter she says Dangote Group drafted and sent to her father. According to the reality star, this document requested her father’s signature acknowledging receipt of burial expenses—a move she characterized as “impersonation.”

“This letter that was sent to my dad this evening is really paining me. @dangotegroup you killed my sister, did massive PR, gave the girl’s papa money for burial, then still by yourself wrote an acknowledgement letter impersonating my father and sent it to him to sign,” she wrote in her emotional post.

Phyna argued that standard practice would require the family to draft such documentation themselves, not receive a pre-written acknowledgment from the company. She questioned why an organization of Dangote Group’s stature would need to control the narrative in this manner rather than dealing with her family transparently.

The allegations raise broader questions about corporate responsibility when workplace tragedies occur. Phyna’s accusations suggest a pattern of behavior she believes demonstrates the company prioritized public relations over genuine support for a grieving family.

“You killed my sister, did massive PR,” she stated bluntly, implying that the company’s public statements about supporting the family were more about protecting its reputation than providing meaningful assistance.

As of this report, several key details remain unclear: the exact nature of Ruth Otabor’s employment with Dangote Group, the circumstances of her death, and what medical expenses were incurred at the various locations mentioned. Dangote Group has not yet issued a public response to these allegations.

The case highlights the often-complicated intersection between corporate entities and families dealing with loss, particularly when public figures are involved and social media amplifies every grievance. Whether Phyna’s allegations will lead to further investigation or legal action remains to be seen.

For now, the reality star’s Instagram posts have opened a public conversation about corporate accountability, transparency in crisis management, and the treatment of employees’ families during tragic circumstances.

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW

Big Brother Naija star Phyna has publicly accuse Dangote Group of mishandling her sister Ruth Otabor’s death and burial, alleging:

1. Broken promises on expenses- While the company claimed to cover all medical and burial costs, the family allegedly paid bills from Auchi to Irrua without reimbursement.

2. Communication failure – Dangote Group reportedly ignored all family calls on the burial day, creating confusion about unpaid bills.

3. Questionable documentation – The company allegedly drafted an acknowledgment letter and asked Phyna’s father to sign it, which she views as an attempt to control the narrative rather than deal transparently with the family.
