Nollywood actress and filmmaker, Faithia Balogun Williams, has reportedly lost her mother just hours before celebrating her 55th birthday.
The sad news was shared by the actress on her social media pages and came as a shock to her fans and colleagues, who expressed sympathy and support.
Faithia turned 55 on Thursday, February 5, 2026, and held a birthday party on Sunday, February 8, 2026.
The celebration, which was attended by several top Nollywood stars, took place with guests including Malaika, Funke Akindele, Pasuma, Kazim Adeoti, Regina Chukwu, Fausat Balogun, and Shaffy Bello.
Hours after the party, the actress announced that her mother had passed away on the eve of the celebration.
She revealed that her family kept the news from her until after the event.
Sharing the sad update on social media, Faithia wrote, “Dear friends, it was my 55th birthday on Thursday, February 5. However, I chose to have a party yesterday, Sunday. Unbeknownst to me, my beloved mother died on the eve of my party and the news was cruelly kept away from me. The reality of her passing has not totally dawned on me because she was my cheerleader, prayer warrior, best friend, and gist partner wrapped in the invaluable gift of a mother.”
She also added that her family would like to remain private during this difficult time and that burial arrangements would be announced later.
Following her announcement, fans, friends, and colleagues flooded her comment section with messages of condolence and encouragement.
Many people expressed sadness over the timing of the loss, which happened so close to her birthday celebration.
The actress has continued to receive support from the public as she mourns the passing of her mother.
