Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has endorsed U.S. President Donald Trump’s contentious proposal to temporarily relocate Palestinians from Gaza, stating that Israel is prepared to implement the plan.

In a Fox News interview aired on Saturday, Netanyahu described Trump’s initiative as a “fresh idea” that could reshape Gaza’s future. He emphasized that the plan does not involve U.S. troops but rather offers Palestinians an option to leave Gaza temporarily while reconstruction efforts take place.

Trump’s proposal has faced widespread criticism from Middle Eastern nations and global leaders. However, Netanyahu argued that it differs from past strategies, which he claims have failed to prevent terrorist groups from using Gaza as a base to attack Israel.

Addressing concerns about displacement, Netanyahu rejected accusations of ethnic cleansing, stating, “Everyone calls Gaza an open-air prison—so why not allow people to leave?” He also noted that any returning Palestinians must “disavow terrorism.”

The plan has reignited historical fears among Palestinians, who recall the mass displacement of 1948—known as the Nakba—as a pivotal moment in their history. Meanwhile, finding a host country willing to accept displaced Gazans remains a significant challenge.
