The Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) has issued a public warning to residents of Afaka, Kauya, and Mando in Kaduna to avoid its open range during a live shooting exercise scheduled from February 26 to March 1, 2025.

In a statement released on Tuesday, NDA’s Public Relations Officer, Maj. Muhammad Maidawa, emphasized that the exercise is part of the advanced fire application training for Army Cadets of the 72 Regular Course.

Maidawa noted that the exercise will involve live firearms, necessitating strict safety measures, including the placement of warning signs and barriers around the range.

“Residents, particularly farmers, pedestrians, and cattle rearers, are urged to strictly adhere to these warnings and steer clear of the area during the exercise,” he stated.

The NDA reassured the public that ensuring the safety of nearby communities remains a priority and called for full cooperation from residents. The academy stressed that avoiding the restricted zone would help prevent accidents and allow for effective military training.
