Senate President Godswill Akpabio has declared that a joint session of the National Assembly will take place on June 12 in honor of Democracy Day.
The announcement came on Wednesday as the Senate resumed plenary.
Akpabio noted that Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele, Minority Leader Abba Moro, and Chairman of Senate Services Sunday Karimi will collaborate with their counterparts in the House of Representatives to finalize preparations and outline the activities for the special session.
He further confirmed that President Bola Tinubu has agreed to personally attend the joint sitting.
Akpabio emphasized that the Senate has mandated the planning committee to swiftly conclude the necessary arrangements and determine the event’s agenda in the days ahead.
