Member representing Tambuwal/Kebbe Federal Constituency in Sokoto State, Abdussamad Dasuki, has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party.

Dasuki’s resignation was contained in a letter dated March 15, 2026, addressed to the chairman of the PDP in Dogon Daji/Salah Ward in Tambuwal Local Government Area of the state, bringing an end to his long-standing membership of the opposition party.

In the letter, the lawmaker explained that the ongoing leadership crisis within the party influenced his decision to leave, noting that the internal disputes have significantly weakened the party’s ability to operate effectively as a major opposition platform in Nigeria.

According to him, the prolonged challenges within the party have made it increasingly difficult for the PDP to provide the credible and organised opposition required to strengthen democratic governance in the country.

Rep Dasuki resigns from PDP

The federal lawmaker said his decision followed wide consultations with political associates, constituents and other stakeholders who share similar concerns about the condition of the party and the broader national situation.

After announcing his exit from the PDP, Dasuki confirmed that he has now joined the African Democratic Congress. He stated that the move would allow him to work with other Nigerians who are committed to addressing the country’s socio-economic and political challenges.

Dasuki also expressed appreciation to members of the PDP who supported him during his time in the party. He reiterated his commitment to continue representing the people of Tambuwal/Kebbe Federal Constituency and serving Nigeria with dedication, integrity and courage.

The lawmaker further urged his supporters and constituents to remain steadfast as he begins what he described as a new political journey focused on contributing to efforts aimed at rebuilding the nation and promoting a more prosperous and democratic Nigeria.
