Kano Government Reveals Emir To Lead Durbar
The Kano State Government has confirmed that the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, will lead the Eid-el-Fitr Durbar this year, while putting in place strict measures to maintain order during the celebrations.
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf approved the plan after reports suggested that some people might try to cause trouble during the Sallah festivities.
The state government said it aims to protect Kano’s cultural events while making sure the celebrations remain safe.
The main Eid Durbar, known as Hawan Idi, will start at Kofar Mata Eid Ground and follow set routes to Gidan Shettima, ending at Kofar Fatalwa near the emir’s palace.
Other Durbar events are being adjusted for safety: Hawan Nasarawa will happen without the usual horseback displays, and Hawan Daushe, Hawan Fanisau, and Hawan Dorayi have been temporarily suspended.
All security forces have been told to step up patrols and ensure the rules are followed before, during, and after the festivities.
Residents are asked to stay calm, obey the law, cooperate with security officers, and avoid spreading unverified news.
The government reassured the public that efforts are being made for a smooth and peaceful Eid celebration and wished all Muslims in Kano a happy Eid-el-Fitr.
