A magistrate court in Kano has ordered two popular TikTokers, Idris Mai Wushirya and Basira Yar Guda, to get married within 60 days following their appearance in viral videos deemed “indecent” by the Kano State Films and Video Censorship Board.
The videos, which showed the pair engaging in romantic displays, were described by authorities as contrary to the moral and religious standards upheld in the state.
Delivering her ruling on Monday, Magistrate Halima Wali directed the Kano State Hisbah Board to ensure the marriage is conducted within the given timeframe, warning that failure to comply would amount to contempt of court.

The court further instructed the Chairman of the Kano State Films and Video Censorship Board to supervise the enforcement of the order.
The TikTok duo had earlier been arraigned for allegedly producing and sharing obscene content on social media. Mai Wushirya was previously remanded in a correctional facility after videos showing him in what authorities termed “immoral and demeaning acts” with Yar Guda surfaced online.
The Censorship Board insisted that the videos violated state laws that prohibit the creation and circulation of sexually suggestive or indecent material.
