Nigerian music icon Panshak Zamani, better known by his stage name Ice Prince, has long been celebrated for his lyrical prowess and contributions to the Afrobeats and hip-hop scenes. With hits like Oleku and Aboki cementing his place in the industry, the Jos-born artist has navigated fame, personal loss, and the pressures of stardom.

However, in a recent episode of the Konnected Minds podcast, Ice Prince peeled back the layers of his public persona, offering a raw and introspective look at the regrets that have shaped his journey.

The podcast, known for its deep dives into the personal and professional lives of influential figures, provided a platform for Ice Prince to reflect on his career.

When the host posed the poignant question, “What is that thing that you’ve done in the course of your career that you wish you could change?” The rapper’s response was both candid and revealing, touching on two major themes: his personal relationships and his struggle with cannabis use.

Ice Prince’s reflections on his romantic relationships struck a chord with listeners. “Maybe decisions with women,” he began, his tone heavy with introspection. “I have broken a few hearts that I regret. I have messed up in some relationships that I wish I could turn back the hands of time.”

The artist, whose charisma and charm have often made headlines, admitted to losing “some very amazing angels” due to what he described as “stupid” stuff”—decisions as seemingly innocuous as saying “hi” to the wrong person or engaging on social media.

These admissions paint a picture of a man grappling with the consequences of fame’s temptations. Ice Prince, who has been linked to high-profile relationships in the past, including with Maima Nkewa in 2016, acknowledged the toll his actions have taken.

Everything happens for a reason,” he noted, emphasizing a philosophy of learning from mistakes. “Sometimes, in life, you just have to learn from your mistakes and not repeat them.” His words reflect a maturity forged through experience, as he strives to grow from past missteps.

Equally compelling was Ice Prince’s discussion of his relationship with cannabis, a habit he deeply regrets adopting. “One of the things that I wish I could unlearn is how to roll cannabis,” he confessed. “I wish I had never learned that because if I hadn’t learned it, I would probably smoke with a bit of moderation or not even smoke.”

The rapper explained that his proficiency in rolling has led to habitual use, with smoking becoming a reflexive part of his daily routine, from waking up to working in the studio.

“I don’t let anyone roll cannabis for me,” he added, underscoring the personal nature of the habit. “I don’t do drugs, I don’t mix cannabis with any crazy stuff. I wish I had never learned how to roll.” This revelation, echoed across multiple reports, highlights the challenges faced by artists in an industry where substance use can be normalized.

Ice Prince’s openness about his struggle resonates as a call for moderation and self-awareness, particularly for younger fans and aspiring musicians.

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW

As Ice Prince continues to create music and engage with his audience, his Konnected Minds appearance serves as a reminder of the human behind the hits. His regrets—whether in love or personal habits—are not endpoints but part of a broader journey of self-discovery.

By sharing these struggles, Ice Prince not only humanizes his stardom but also challenges the stigma around discussing personal shortcomings.
