Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas has confirmed that he will formally leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and join the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Wednesday, November 19, 2025.
He made the disclosure while inspecting the ongoing refurbishment of the Jolly Nyame Stadium in Jalingo, where preparations for the defection ceremony are already in full swing. Governor Kefas noted that the decision reflects his commitment to the progress and long-term aspirations of Taraba residents, emphasizing that it is not driven by personal political considerations.
“On the 19th of November, I will officially transition from PDP to APC. This movement is about the destiny of the people of Taraba, and we are expecting many visitors for the ceremony,” he stated.

Responding to questions on whether the APC had set any conditions before accepting him, Governor Kefas said his remarks at the ceremony would shed light on the entire process, allowing citizens to assess the situation and its implications.
Members of the state executive council have also declared their backing for the move. Representing the cabinet, the Commissioner for Science and Technology, Muslim Aruwa, reiterated their loyalty to the governor and confidence in his political direction.
“The Governor is our leader. Wherever he goes, we move with him—be it APC, SDP, or ADC. This alignment with the Federal Government is for the good of all citizens, not for personal gain. It is about bringing development to the state,” Aruwa said.
He added that the decision is not solely about Governor Kefas but represents a collective shift involving the people of Taraba, stressing, “We are with him 100 percent.”
