Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has reportedly vacated the Government House in Port Harcourt along with his family and security details.

According to reports, Fubara left the seat of power on Wednesday morning following President Bola Tinubu’s declaration of a state of emergency in the oil-rich state.

Despite his exit, security at the Government House remains sparse, although the two Armoured Personnel Carriers seen on Tuesday night in front of the premises are still stationed there with a handful of security operatives.

As of the time of filing this report, normal activities were ongoing in Port Harcourt and its environs.

Meanwhile, the newly appointed Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibokette Ibas (retd.), had yet to assume office as of 12:50 p.m. on Wednesday.

The political tension in Rivers State remains high following Tinubu’s suspension of Governor Fubara, his deputy, and the state’s House of Assembly members for an initial six-month period.
