The United States has released the list of eligible countries for its 2025 Visa Waiver Programme (VWP), with notable exclusions, including the United Kingdom and all African nations such as Nigeria, Ghana, and South Africa.
While the list remains largely unchanged, Romania has been newly added. The US Bureau of Consular Affairs stated that the programme prioritizes nations with strong diplomatic ties and border security standards.
Under the VWP, citizens of participating countries can visit the US for tourism or business for up to 90 days without a visa, provided they obtain prior Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) approval.
The 2025 VWP now includes 40 countries, making travel more accessible for millions worldwide. However, applicants from non-eligible nations must still apply for traditional visitor visas.
