The Federal Capital Territory Administration has provided residents of the Federal Capital Territory with four telephone lines to report cases of refuse that have not been cleared in their neighbourhoods.
The initiative is part of efforts by the FCTA to tackle the worsening waste situation across the territory and ensure that waste management contractors carry out their responsibilities promptly and effectively.

In a brief statement released on Tuesday, the Senior Special Assistant to the FCT Minister on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, encouraged residents to actively participate by documenting instances of uncleared refuse.
He explained that members of the public are expected to send clear pictures or videos of waste that has not been evacuated to the designated phone numbers using WhatsApp. According to him, residents should also clearly indicate the location where the images or footage were taken, as this will help authorities identify the contractors responsible for those areas and take appropriate action.

Olayinka disclosed that the telephone numbers made available for this purpose are 08038643087, 07011073406, 07011255710 and 09114843425.
What you should know
The FCTA’s decision to release dedicated contact numbers is aimed at improving accountability in waste management across Abuja.
By involving residents directly, the administration hopes to monitor contractors more effectively and respond faster to sanitation issues. The use of pictures, videos and precise locations is intended to eliminate ambiguity and ensure that complaints are verified quickly.
This approach reflects a growing reliance on citizen participation and digital reporting to improve public service delivery and environmental hygiene in the nation’s capital.
