The Association of Resident Doctors (ARD) in the Federal Capital Territory has commenced a three-day warning strike, beginning Tuesday, May 6, 2025, in protest over the dismissal of 127 health workers by the FCT Civil Service Commission.

The decision to strike followed an emergency congress held Monday at Asokoro District Hospital, Abuja. Addressing reporters after the meeting, the President of FCT ARD, Dr. George Ebong, described the termination as both illegal and inhumane, demanding the immediate reinstatement of the affected workers and the payment of their April salaries.

Dr. Ebong further called for the resignation of Emeka Ezeh, chairman of the FCT Civil Service Commission, holding him responsible for the decision.

He warned that if the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, and the FCT Administration fail to meet their demands within three days, the doctors would launch an indefinite strike, effectively shutting down healthcare services in hospitals across the capital.
