Africa’s wealthiest man and Chairman of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, has pledged N15 billion to elevate the Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology (ADUSTECH), Wudil, to world-class status.
The institution, formerly known as Kano State University of Science and Technology (KUST), is set to benefit from this funding over a five-year development plan.
Speaking during the university’s 5th combined convocation ceremony, Dangote—who also serves as the university’s Chancellor—outlined the commitment, emphasizing his ambition for ADUSTECH to rank among Nigeria’s top three universities.
According to him, “Over the next five years… we will commit the sum of N15 billion to the following projects,” including new student hostels, classrooms, a world-class computer laboratory, a mini solar power plant, a Senate building, and employment opportunities for top graduates.
He added that the plan will be implemented in partnership with the university’s Governing Council under a strict project management framework.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Musa Tukur Yakasai disclosed that he inherited a N3 billion liability when he assumed office, of which N2 billion has been cleared by the current administration.
Governor Abba Yusuf also announced plans to improve infrastructure, including roads and drainages within the university.
