In a dazzling testament to his enduring influence and visionary leadership, Nigerian rapper and YBNL Nation founder Olamide Adedeji has been named one of Billboard’s Global Power Players for 2025.

The multi-award-winning artist, affectionately known as “Baddo,” has solidified his status as a titan of the music industry, steering his label to unprecedented heights while championing the global ascent of Afrobeats.

YBNL

At the heart of YBNL’s 2024 success are two of its brightest stars: Asake and Fireboy DML. Asake’s third studio album, Lungu Boy, was declared the biggest album in Nigeria for 2024 by TurnTable Charts.

The project, brimming with infectious rhythms and genre-blending flair, earned a nomination for Best African Music Performance at the 67th Grammy Awards for the track “MMS.” Asake also made history as the third Nigerian artist to sell out London’s O2 Arena multiple times, joining the ranks of Davido and Wizkid.

Fireboy DML’s fourth album, adedamola, was hailed as one of 2024’s standout projects, showcasing his signature blend of soulful melodies and Afrobeats innovation. These achievements highlight YBNL’s knack for nurturing artists who push the boundaries of Afrobeats, creating music that resonates globally.

In an exclusive interview with Billboard, Olamide shared his strategy for YBNL’s global expansion: “YBNL Nation has made significant strides in expanding our global footprint and solidifying our presence in key international markets. Collaborations with international artists and producers have helped bridge the gap between Afrobeats and other genres, further establishing our label as a key player in the global music scene.”

This approach has seen YBNL artists blend Afrobeats with hip-hop, R&B, and pop, captivating diverse audiences.

Olamide’s journey from a street-hop sensation to a global music mogul is remarkable. Under his leadership, YBNL has launched the careers of stars like Lil Kesh, Adekunle Gold, Young Jonn, and Pheelz. His ability to spot and nurture talent, combined with his business acumen, has made YBNL a blueprint for independent labels worldwide.

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW
Olamide’s recognition as a Billboard Global Power Player is not just a personal accolade but a celebration of Afrobeats’ unstoppable rise. With YBNL at the forefront, the genre is no longer just a sound—it’s a movement, and Olamide is its maestro.
