Former Vice Presidents Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and Namadi Sambo paid a courtesy visit on Friday to former Minister of Interior and ex-Governor of Osun State, Rauf Aregbesola, at his country home in Ilesa, Osun State.
The visit came just hours before the coronation ceremony of Oba Clement Adesuyi Haastrup as the 49th Owa Obokun and Paramount Ruler of Ijesaland.
A video posted by Atiku on his X handle captured the moment he arrived at Aregbesola’s residence. He was warmly received by the former governor, and both men were seen walking side by side into the house, accompanied by a group of supporters. “Breakfast time at the residence of former Governor of Osun State, Engr Rauf Aregbesola,” Atiku captioned the post.
The meeting attracted prominent Osun State political figures, including former APC chairman Lowo Adebiyi, Omoluabi Progressives chairman Alhaji Azeez Adesiji, former SSG Moshood Adeoti, and ex-House of Assembly Speaker Najeem Salaam.
Atiku’s visit comes amid intensifying political consultations, with opposition leaders exploring coalition-building efforts ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Earlier in the day, Atiku also shared his arrival at Akure Airport, Ondo State, writing: “I was warmly received by stakeholders on arrival at the Akure Airport in Ondo State, ahead of the coronation of the 49th HRH Owa Obokun Adimula and Paramount Ruler of Ijesaland, Oba Clement Adesuyi Haastrup today.”
