The Abia State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has stated that former Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development, Uche Sampson Ogah, remains suspended from the party and does not have the authority to speak on its behalf.
The party recalled that Ogah was suspended in 2022 by his ward in Isuikwuato over allegations that he organised a parallel primary election during preparations for the 2023 governorship election in Abia State.
Reacting to Ogah’s recent endorsement of Governor Alex Otti, the Legal Officer of the Abia APC, Vigilus Nwankwo, said the suspension placed on the former minister is still valid.
Nwankwo made the clarification after a meeting of the party’s State Working Committee held in Umuahia.
According to him, Ogah’s recent comments represent his personal opinion and should not be interpreted as the official position of the APC in Abia State.
He maintained that the party has not lifted the suspension imposed on Ogah.
Meanwhile, sources within the party said Ogah’s suspension was also linked to his support for the second-term bid of Governor Alex Otti.
