The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced a relocation of its upcoming National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting originally slated for Thursday, July 24, 2025.

Initially planned to take place at the party’s national secretariat on Blantyre Street, Wuse II, Abuja, the high-level gathering will now be held at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa in Abuja by 2:00 p.m.

This development was confirmed in a statement issued on Wednesday by Felix Morka, the APC National Publicity Secretary, who explained that the venue change was prompted by “logistical reasons.”

According to the statement, “The All Progressives Congress APC announces that the meeting of the Party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) scheduled to be held on Thursday, 24th July, 2025, will now take place at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. The change of venue from the Party’s National Secretariat – 40 Blantyre Street, Wuse II, Abuja, is due to logistical reasons.”

The decision comes as the party intensifies preparations for a crucial leadership realignment following the recent resignation of its National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje. Ganduje voluntarily stepped down in June, citing health concerns and a desire to step back from frontline political activity. His departure has left a notable leadership vacuum within the ruling party at a time when preparations are ongoing for by-elections in states such as Anambra, Ekiti, and Osun.

In advance of Thursday’s NEC meeting, APC governors convened behind closed doors on Wednesday at the Imo State Governor’s Lodge in Abuja. The meeting was hosted by Governor Hope Uzodimma, who also serves as the Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum.

Among the governors present at the session were Babagana Zulum (Borno), Inuwa Yahaya (Gombe), Abdullahi Sule (Nasarawa), Biodun Oyebanji (Ekiti), Monday Okpebholo (Edo), and Usman Ododo (Kogi). Also in attendance were Bassey Otu (Cross River), Nasir Idris (Kebbi), Hyacinth Alia (Benue), Umar Namadi (Jigawa), AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq (Kwara), and Senator Uba Sani (Kaduna). Notably, Sheriff Oborevwori (Delta) was also sighted at the meeting, drawing attention due to his affiliation with the opposition party.

While details of the meeting’s agenda remain undisclosed, political observers believe discussions likely centered on the search for Ganduje’s successor and the direction of the party ahead of key electoral contests.

There is growing anticipation that the NEC will deliberate and possibly ratify several decisions made recently by the National Working Committee (NWC), including timelines for congresses, appointments to standing committees, and an update on the party’s ongoing electronic membership registration exercise across the country.

Ali Bukar Dalori, who is currently serving as the Acting National Chairman of the APC, is expected to lead Thursday’s session and provide critical updates on party operations, reforms, and preparations for future political battles.

Ali Bukar Dalori, the Acting National Chairman of the APC, assumed the role after the resignation of Abdullahi Ganduje in June 2025.

Dalori, a former Borno State APC Chairman, is now tasked with leading the party through a transitional phase marked by internal restructuring and critical preparations for upcoming elections in several Nigerian states.
