Senate President Godswill Akpabio has confidently declared that by 2027, political parties will become irrelevant in Akwa Ibom State, citing a growing unity across party lines in support of his Senate bid and Governor Umo Eno’s leadership.
Speaking at his midterm empowerment event on Friday at Ikot Ekpene Township Stadium, Akpabio, who represents Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial District, declared the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) “in shreds,” stating that “its umbrella can no longer protect.”
Praising Governor Umo Eno, he said, “Umo Eno is a man of peace, a man of God—not one who only professes with his lips, but one who practices God in his heart. He has brought all of us together.”
According to Akpabio, all political parties have now united behind the re-election of Governor Eno and his own return to the Senate in 2027. “There is nothing like a political party in 2027 again in Akwa Ibom State,” he asserted.
The Senate President further stressed the alignment of the state’s leadership with the vision of President Bola Tinubu, Umo Eno, and himself.
