Nigerian singer and songwriter Adekunle Gold has etched his name in the country’s music history after becoming the first artist to sell out the newly renamed Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and the Creative Arts, formerly known as the National Theatre, Lagos.
The landmark feat was recorded on Friday, December 26, 2025, when the award-winning musician sold out the 3,560-capacity venue, marking a major milestone not only in his career but also in the evolving narrative of live music performances in Nigeria.
In recognition of the achievement, Adekunle Gold was, on Thursday, January 1, 2026, presented with two commemorative plaques. One plaque honored him as the first artist to headline and sell out the iconic theater, while the second was awarded to the management team and record label responsible for organizing the historic concert.
