The Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) has directed its members employed by Newcross Exploration and Production Company, operator of Oil Mining Lease (OML) 24 in Rivers State, to commence an immediate nationwide service withdrawal.

The union condemned the company’s recent issuance of “arbitrary” query and suspension letters to its members, calling the disciplinary actions unjust.

In a statement released on Monday by Sere Nwikabeh, Assistant General Secretary of PENGASSAN’s Port Harcourt zonal office, the association emphasized that the industrial action will persist until Newcross retracts the disciplinary notices and initiates negotiations on the Branch Collective Bargaining Agreement.

PENGASSAN warned that operations across all Newcross facilities will remain halted until its demands are met, stating its commitment to defending workers’ interests amid escalating tensions in the oil sector.
