The Accord Party’s Screening Committee has confirmed Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, as the only aspirant for the party’s governorship ticket ahead of the 2026 election cycle.

The announcement was issued through a statement by the committee’s chairman and the party’s National Organising Secretary, Ibe Thankgod.

According to Thankgod, Adeleke satisfied all necessary criteria for nomination and was officially cleared as the party’s sole contender. He praised the governor, describing him as a “worthy gubernatorial aspirant” capable of representing the party effectively.

Adeleke received his certificate of clearance during a presentation on Wednesday in Osogbo. In his remarks, the governor expressed appreciation to the screening committee and the leadership of the Accord Party, stating that he is fully prepared to move toward victory in the coming polls.

He reaffirmed his readiness for both the primary process and the governorship election itself, asserting, “I am ready for the primary, and I am ready for the general elections. We are winning by God’s grace.”

Adeleke’s confirmation comes just a day after he formally declared his membership in the Accord Party, following his exit from the People’s Democratic Party on December 2.

What you should know
Governor Ademola Adeleke’s confirmation as the sole governorship aspirant positions the Accord Party for a unified campaign ahead of the 2026 Osun governorship election.

His defection from the PDP marks a major political shift in the state, with the governor emphasizing alignment with the Accord Party’s ideology and leadership structure. The screening committee’s endorsement further strengthens his path toward securing the party’s ticket without internal contest.

With the party presenting a united front and Adeleke asserting readiness for both the primary and upcoming general election, the Accord Party appears focused on consolidating its influence across Osun State.
