The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has dismissed reports claiming that Lieutenant A.M. Yerima was trailed by unidentified individuals driving two unmarked Hilux vans in the Kubwa area on Sunday evening.
The officer had reportedly carried out evasive manoeuvres after the vehicles allegedly followed him from the NIPCO Station along the Kubwa Motorway to Gado Nasco Road.
Earlier, military sources indicated that the situation was under investigation, with the occupants of the vans said to have shadowed the naval officer before he managed to escape their trail.

Responding to the circulating reports, the FCT Police Command spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, stated that the claims were unfounded. She noted, “The attention of the FCT Police Command has been drawn to publications circulating on social media alleging an attempted assassination on Lt Ahmed Yerima. The Command wishes to categorically state that no such incident has been reported or recorded anywhere within the Federal Capital Territory.”
She warned that the public should disregard what she described as misinformation and avoid spreading unverified narratives capable of creating needless tension. Adeh further advised residents to remain alert and to promptly report any suspicious movements or behaviour to the nearest police division to ensure the safety of all within the FCT.
