Lieutenant A.M. Yerima, the Nigerian Navy officer recently involved in a heated confrontation with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, was said to have narrowly escaped being trailed by unidentified individuals in Abuja on Friday night.

Sources revealed that two unmarked Hilux vans, carrying men without identification tags, allegedly followed Yerima’s vehicle from the NIPCO Filling Station along the Kubwa Expressway down to Gado Nasco Way.

The young officer reportedly deployed calculated driving maneuvers to outwit the suspected pursuers, successfully breaking away from the vehicles before reaching his destination.

Wike and Soldiers

The incident, which unfolded at about 6:30 p.m., is now the subject of an active investigation by the appropriate security agencies. A source familiar with the situation declined to disclose further details, noting that certain information cannot be released at this stage to avoid jeopardising the ongoing inquiry.

Yerima has remained in the public spotlight since his recent confrontation with FCT Minister Nyesom Wike during a tense encounter in Abuja. This episode has continued to polarise public opinion and stir debate across the country.

In the aftermath of that altercation, the Presidency is reported to have stepped in, leading FCT authorities to withdraw demolition equipment earlier deployed to the disputed land at Gaduwa District.
