The Katsina State Executive Council, chaired by Governor Dikko Radda, has approved the bulk purchase of electric and solar-powered vehicles and tricycles as part of its public transportation programme.

Announcing the decision on Thursday after the council’s meeting at the Government House, Katsina, the Director-General of the Katsina State Enterprise Development Agency, Aisha Aminu, said the initiative aims to provide affordable transport amid rising fuel costs while generating employment opportunities for youths.

“We have identified IRS, a renowned Kano-based company, and another supplier as the approved vendors for this transformative initiative,” Aminu stated.

Additionally, the council approved the construction of a 20-storey residential building in Victoria Island, Lagos. Special Adviser to the Governor on Intergovernmental, Development Partners, and Liaison Services, Hadiza Maikudi, described the project as a strategic investment to boost Katsina’s revenue base, with a scheduled completion timeline of 24 months.
