The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, has called on Nigerian Army commanders to adopt innovative strategies to enhance combat readiness and operational efficiency.

Speaking at a one-day seminar for junior and middle-level officers at the 8 Division Headquarters, Sokoto, on Thursday, Oluyede emphasized the importance of creativity, learning from past experiences, and refining military strategies to address security challenges.

Themed “Enhancing Operational Effectiveness through Nigeria Army Lessons Learned Process/Feedback Mechanism,” the seminar aimed to strengthen the army’s strategic approach by fostering continuous learning and operational improvements.

Represented by the Chief of Transformation and Innovation, Maj. Gen. Olusegun Samson Abai, the COAS commended officers for their dedication to combating insecurity in the Northwest. He stressed the need for both kinetic and non-kinetic military strategies to enhance operational success while minimizing errors and casualties.

Brig. Gen. Olayinka Are, Deputy Director of Training and Examination Analysis at the Army Headquarters, explained that the seminar was designed to equip officers with skills to analyze and apply lessons from past operations.

“The soldier is the army. No army is better than its soldiers. Training and developing our personnel remain a top priority,” he stated.

The event provided a platform for officers to refine their strategies and contribute to the Nigerian Army’s goal of safeguarding national security.
