Voting commenced early Saturday in parts of Anambra State as officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) arrived at several polling units in Umunze, Orumba South LGA, and Ekwulobia, Aguata LGA, around 8:00 am.

At multiple centres, INEC officials briefed voters on proper voting procedures before pasting registers for easier identification. Accreditation and voting began smoothly in most locations, although a few areas, including All Saints Primary School, Onitsha, experienced slight delays in commencement.

Security personnel were visibly present across polling stations to maintain order. However, in Awka and Onitsha, some commercial vehicles were seen operating despite the restriction of movement order issued by security agencies.

Light activity was observed in several neighbourhoods, where roadside shops remained open and youths were seen playing football, indicating low enthusiasm in some areas. Polling units in Okpuno and Mgbakwu, however, recorded modest voter turnout as residents gradually arrived to cast their votes.

Overall, voting and accreditation are ongoing, though reports indicate that some INEC officials arrived late in parts of Awka and Onitsha.
