Arsenal moved three points clear at the top of the Premier League after Leandro Trossard’s second-half strike earned a 1-0 victory against Fulham at Craven Cottage on Saturday.

The Belgian forward netted his first league goal of the season to seal Arsenal’s fifth straight win in all competitions and stretch their unbeaten run to eight games.

The victory saw Mikel Arteta’s men reclaim top spot just hours after Manchester City briefly went above them with a 2-0 win over Everton. Liverpool’s recent back-to-back defeats have left the champions trailing in the title race, with Arsenal now firm favourites to lift their first Premier League crown since 2004.

“It is a really tough place to come. We have experienced that in the last few years. We put a lot into it. We had some giveaways in the first half, but we became more dominant throughout the game,” Arteta said after the match.

Fulham started brighter, with Harry Wilson and Raul Jimenez both testing Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya early on. Wilson later curled just wide after capitalising on a misplaced pass from Gabriel Magalhaes.

Riccardo Calafiori’s crisp strike for Arsenal was ruled out for offside by VAR, while Bernd Leno denied Viktor Gyokeres as the visitors struggled to make their dominance count before the break.

Trossard eventually made the breakthrough in the 58th minute, turning home from close range after Gabriel flicked on Bukayo Saka’s corner — Arsenal’s 37th goal from a corner since the start of the 2023–24 season.

Saka nearly doubled the lead after a dazzling solo run, forcing Leno into another fine save. Arsenal were later denied a penalty when referee Anthony Taylor overturned his initial decision upon VAR review.

Despite Viktor Gyokeres’ continued struggles in front of goal — missing two late chances — the Gunners held firm to secure a vital win.

With rock legend and Arsenal supporter Mick Jagger watching from the stands, Arteta’s side left Fulham with “some satisfaction” and a strengthened grip on the Premier League summit.

What You Should Know

Leandro Trossard joined Arsenal from Brighton in January 2023 and has become a key attacking option under Mikel Arteta.

Known for his composure and versatility, the Belgian’s match-winning goal at Craven Cottage highlights his growing influence as Arsenal continue their push for a first league title in over two decades.
