The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kebbi State has declared its readiness to sanction members accused of attempting to sabotage its forthcoming congresses fixed for September 20 and 27.

The party’s Legal Adviser in the state, Nura Bello, disclosed this while addressing journalists in Birnin Kebbi on Friday. He stressed that the PDP had finalized plans to discipline those found guilty of working against the smooth conduct of the congresses. According to him, the party’s national leadership has already set up a Disciplinary Committee to investigate and punish any act of sabotage or anti-party behavior.

Bello also spoke on the circulating reports of a court order, shared widely on social media on September 18, which allegedly suspended congresses in Kano and Kebbi States. He clarified that the party immediately engaged legal representatives to challenge the ruling, which was later vacated by the judge.

“The judge, in his wisdom, vacated the order on the grounds of misrepresentation of facts and lack of jurisdiction. Based on the facts presented, Kano was not even among the states scheduled to hold congresses on the said dates,” Bello explained.

He described it as unfortunate that the individuals who filed the case were PDP members in Kebbi, insisting that issues of such nature should have been addressed within the state High Court rather than escalated unnecessarily.

Bello called on all PDP members across the state to participate actively in the congresses, assuring them that preparations were complete and the events would go ahead on September 20 and 27 as scheduled.

What You Should Know

The PDP in Kebbi has pledged to discipline members accused of sabotaging its upcoming congresses.

A controversial court order suspending the exercise was overturned for lack of jurisdiction, and the party says the congresses will hold as planned on September 20 and 27.
