The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has formally acknowledged the new leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), naming former Senate President David Bonaventure Mark as the party’s National Chairman.

The commission updated the party’s particulars on its website on Wednesday in Abuja, confirming the new executive council and bringing months of internal disputes within the ADC to an end.

ADC Unveiling

Under the restructured National Working Committee, former Osun State governor Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola has been appointed National Secretary, while Dr. Mani Ibrahim Ahmad assumes the role of National Treasurer. Akibu Dalhatu was listed as National Financial Secretary, and former Edo State governor, Prof. Oserheimen Aigberaodion Osunbor, was named National Legal Adviser.

The recognition is widely seen as a move that could restore stability to the party and reposition it for greater impact ahead of the 2027 general elections. Party stakeholders expressed optimism that the new leadership would provide a more unified and strategic direction.

What you should know

David Mark, a two-term Senate President and influential political figure, now leads the ADC at a time when opposition parties are strategizing for 2027.

His leadership, supported by experienced figures like Rauf Aregbesola and Oserheimen Osunbor, is expected to give the party fresh momentum after prolonged leadership struggles.
