The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has confirmed that it held a meeting with Comfort Emanson, the Ibom Air passenger at the center of a recent altercation with crew members during a flight from Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, to Lagos.
According to the agency’s spokesperson, Michael Achimugu, the meeting took place on Thursday, with Emanson present alongside her legal representative. While Achimugu acknowledged her appearance before the NCAA, he did not provide extensive details of the discussions that took place.
“NCAA has held a meeting with Comfort Emanson, the Ibom Air passenger,” Achimugu revealed in a statement shared on his official X handle on Thursday.
Before Emanson’s appearance, the NCAA had already convened with crew members of Ibom Air on Wednesday as part of its ongoing investigation into the incident. Achimugu explained that the Authority’s directorates of aviation security, operations, licensing and training standards, legal, and consumer protection had been working in collaboration to ensure a thorough review of the matter.

“Yesterday in Abuja, the NCAA team met with Julie Edwards and other members of the crew involved in the Comfort Emanson incident as part of investigations into that event. The NCAA’s directorates of aviation security, operations, licensing, and training standards, legal, and consumer protection were collaborating to ensure a proper conclusion to this investigation. Later today, Comfort Emanson, the passenger, would be meeting with the Authority. She is being accompanied by her lawyer,” Achimugu stated.
The clash, which occurred on August 10, 2025, escalated when Emanson allegedly assaulted a flight attendant during the journey and later confronted security operatives at the Lagos airport. The incident gained widespread public attention after videos emerged online showing her in a heated altercation with one of the crew members.

Public reaction was divided. While many Nigerians condemned Emanson’s aggressive conduct on board and at the airport, others criticized the actions of one of the flight attendants, who was seen in the footage preventing the passenger from disembarking.
Following the confrontation, Emanson was taken into police custody at the airport, arraigned before a Lagos court, and briefly remanded in prison. She was, however, later released, and the charges brought against her were subsequently withdrawn.
The NCAA has assured that it will continue its investigation until a fair resolution is reached, with input from both the passenger and the airline.
