President Bola Tinubu has named Abdullahi Ramat as the new Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC).
In a statement released Thursday by presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga, the President also nominated Abubakar Yusuf as Commissioner for Consumer Affairs and Fouad Olayinka Animashun as Commissioner for Finance and Management Services.
All three nominations are subject to Senate confirmation.
To avoid a leadership gap, President Tinubu directed Ramat to immediately assume the role in an acting capacity pending the Senate’s approval, as required by law.
Ramat, 39, is an electrical engineer and administrator with a PhD in Strategic Management, among other qualifications.
President Tinubu urged the nominees to use their expertise to guide the commission and contribute meaningfully to his administration’s broader vision for transforming Nigeria’s power sector.
