Seventeen-year-old Nafisa Abdullah Aminu, hailing from Yobe State, has achieved global recognition by emerging as the top performer in English Language Skills at the 2025 TeenEagle Global Finals, which took place in London, United Kingdom.

Representing Nigeria under the banner of the Nigerian Tulip International College (NTIC), Nafisa distinguished herself among over 20,000 participants drawn from 69 countries. Her exceptional performance has not only placed her in the global academic limelight but has also earned Nigeria immense prestige on the world stage.

TeenEagle is a respected international contest that evaluates students’ command of the English language, along with their analytical thinking and communication abilities. The competition welcomes participants from both English-speaking and non-English-speaking countries, making Nafisa’s achievement particularly noteworthy.

The confirmation of her accomplishment came through a statement released by the head of her family, Hassan Salifu, who credited her success to a blend of “dedication, discipline, and the enabling support of the state government.” Salifu emphasized that the educational strides taken under the leadership of Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State played a critical role in shaping Nafisa’s academic journey.

According to Salifu, Nafisa’s victory, which saw her outperform competitors from native English-speaking nations, underscores not only her brilliance but also the level of preparation and guidance she received. He pointed to the governor’s commitment to education as a catalyst for this groundbreaking feat, describing it as a source of great pride for both the state and the country.

Celebrations erupted across Yobe State and beyond following the news of Nafisa’s victory. Her family conveyed their heartfelt gratitude to Governor Buni and the teaching staff at NTIC for their unwavering support in helping Nafisa realise her academic potential.

They described her success as reflective of what is possible when government policy prioritizes education. The family stressed that the impact of Governor Buni’s administration in the education sector has gone beyond local improvement to earn global recognition for the state and the country at large.

The widespread admiration for Nafisa’s success has also translated into mounting calls for her to be honoured at both the state and national levels. Many Nigerians see her win as a clear signal of the nation’s latent academic abilities and the positive results of strategic investments in education.

“She has brought honour to Nigeria by surpassing students from countries where English is the native language. Her achievement sends a powerful message that, with the right foundation and encouragement, Nigerian students can reach the pinnacle of global excellence,” said a proud family member.

Nafisa Abdullah Aminu’s triumph at the 2025 TeenEagle Global Finals is more than a personal achievement—it is a defining moment for Yobe State and Nigeria.
