Imo State Governor and Chairman of the South East Governors’ Forum, Hope Uzodimma, has urged the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Services (DSS) to intensify their investigation into the recent hacking of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) website.

In a statement released on Saturday, Governor Uzodimma commended security agencies for the arrest of 20 suspects linked to the cyberattack, which disrupted the 2025 JAMB computer-based examinations. The breach affected the results of over 370,000 students, predominantly from the South East.

The suspects were reportedly paid to compromise the JAMB portal, causing widespread confusion and distress among students and parents alike.

Speaking through the state Commissioner for Information, Public Orientation and Strategy, Hon Declan Emelumba, Uzodimma described the arrests as timely and essential for getting to the root of the issue.

He emphasized the need for a swift investigation and prompt prosecution of those responsible, noting that such actions would serve as a deterrent to potential future offenders.

“The JAMB imbroglio was a national embarrassment that should be dealt with immediately,” Uzodimma said.

He also applauded JAMB Registrar, Prof Ishaq Oloyede, for his transparency and dedication to preserving the credibility of the examination body.

What you should know
Governor Hope Uzodimma is actively pushing for a rapid and thorough investigation into the hacking of JAMB’s website, which impacted hundreds of thousands of students.

His leadership reflects concern for educational integrity and public accountability, while also supporting law enforcement in protecting national institutions from digital sabotage.
