All 22 governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have thrown their full support behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the party’s sole presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections.
The endorsement was officially announced on Thursday by the Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, during the APC National Summit held at the State House Banquet Hall in Abuja. Themed Renewed Hope Agenda: The Journey So Far, the summit gathered key party stakeholders from across the country.
Governor Uzodimma put forward the motion to adopt President Tinubu as the APC’s only flagbearer for 2027. It was seconded by the PGF Vice Chairman and Governor of Kaduna State, Uba Sani.
The motion received overwhelming support, as it was passed by a voice vote and met with a standing ovation from attendees, including Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, National Assembly members, former and sitting governors, and APC representatives from Nigeria’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
This declaration follows a similar endorsement by the APC Northwest faction just five days prior, indicating growing internal unity around Tinubu’s reelection campaign.
