The Senate has confirmed the defection of Senators Adamu Aliero (Kebbi Central), Yahaya Abdullahi (Kebbi North), and Garba Maidoki (Kebbi South) from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Their defection was officially announced during Tuesday’s plenary session, marking their formal resignation from the opposition PDP.
With this move, the APC’s presence in the 10th National Assembly now rises to 68 senators, further solidifying its majority in the upper legislative chamber.
Prominent political figures, including APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje, Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris, and Minister of State for Humanitarian Affairs Yusuf Sununu, were present during the announcement.
The new composition of the Senate is as follows: APC – 68, PDP – 30, Labour Party – 5, NNPP – 1, SDP – 2, and APGA – 1.
This development comes just days after the three lawmakers met with President Bola Tinubu and announced their intention to join the ruling party.
